The Manipulation of the Acupuncture Needle - Is it Necessary?

When you face the clear affirmation of some colleagues, how to deal with it? There are many areas that are easy to confirm and have no special consequences. In other cases, such a decree or announcement may destabilize, especially if it contradicts your beliefs or what others you respect.

This happens when a teacher, colleague, and/or "professor" claims to have to manipulate the needle after inserting the needle. This is a topic I have been thinking about for a long time, using what I wrote, what I heard in the course, conference or seminar, and my own experience. From a cultural point of view, this is a fascinating question. From the perspective of intellectuals, it is irritating. The relationship between practitioners and patients may cause adaptation problems. From a practical point of view, its strict application is not obvious.

It may be convenient to make the reader sensitive to this particular situation. So many versions and claims are clarified or processed. Use measures and wisdom, but also logical and rigorous.

But what is the meaning of needle operation first? It's very simple: after inserting it into the body, doctors use a variety of exercises to improve treatment efficiency. There are a series of actions that depend entirely on traditional acupuncture vision: qi, dispersion, regulation, increased sensation, concentration or liberation, stimulation or calming.

This is the claim that needle handling is essential for good therapeutic results. Without manipulation, you will not get any results, or very little. It is sometimes described in gorgeous words, using subtle or poetic words in old text because it is part of the complex process of the acupuncturist's gestures, which seems to be essential, as if it were just as good as any type of acupuncture. However, this concept contradicts reality. Whether in China or in other countries, it is said that professors must write. If you want to get good results, manipulation is indispensable.

Indeed, different operations are well suited to technical theory, and recognizing them increases the harmony and apparent cohesion of the acupuncture mental process. I have seen dozens, maybe hundreds of acupuncturists. Chinese and non-Chinese, Europeans or Americans, Australians and even Japanese. I have never seen them manipulate the needle as described in the old or modern text. The most thing I saw that they did was to hold the needle handle between the thumb and the pointer and apply two actions: rotate it or push and exit a little. Not too much, very cautious. The patient did not respond, and sometimes he would whisper.

Is this minimal exercise necessary? Does it improve the treatment? Do practitioners often use this technology? If not, under which circumstances will he execute it? The vast majority of practitioners I saw at work inserted needles, and that's it.

SouliédeMorant introduced the system to use silver and gold needles to strengthen or disperse. His needle is short and thick. It is impossible to manipulate them. It is important to select the main points [selections based on the elegant rules of the five elements and apply to acupuncture]. The use of gold or silver needles enhances the strengthening or dispersing effect of the stimulation points.

But when I arrived in Hong Kong in 1968 and asked my first master about this technique, he didn't understand it first, but then realized what I was saying: "Oh, yes, this is one of the technologies that can be used. But it is best to believe in the choice and manipulation of the point. But he does not manipulate the needle himself. So how to consider the needle manipulation?

The food I give you is worth pondering. If I want to talk about the subject, I need a lot of pages, stories and observations. Maybe it's an ebook.
